Someone on GoodReads told me since authors usually work hard to get their book published that I should have no reason to hate every single part of a book. And I was all:
Because if an author worked five years for the book to get published it has to have one good part in it, right?
Do you know what you are saying?
"Sure Hitler killed over seven million people, but he worked hard to get his book published, so it must have at least one good part."
Yes, you agree with a sadistic sociopath from what you're saying, no excuses. You think fucking Mein Kampf has at least one good part to it. Well congratulations to you! Or should I say the phrase in German for you? Oh yes, congratulations on joining the Neo-Nazi nuts, since we all know they are some frigging good people.
Let's discuss the book Hush, Hush, which glorifies "Yes Means No" and "Rape/Stalking Is Love". Nora is sexually harassed, almost raped, shamed, stalked by Patch, and she even slut-shames other girls. Meh evilz feminist-liberalz bias prevents me from liking any part of that book. Even though everything I mentioned is awful, but was portrayed as normal. And since Beckie worked so hard to get the frigging book published I should like just one little part of it?
Also, there was a scene in the book Marked where a girl forced her boyfriend to give her a blowjob. You know what that is? That is fucking rape. But guess how the book portrayed rape? It was scene as sexy, that men can't possibly be raped. And evil feminist-liberal bias me was busy screaming at the book and pointing my middle finger to the sky BECAUSE THERE IS NO FUCKING EXCUSE FOR THAT. I don't care if P.C. Cast fucking jumped off a cliff to get the book published. I have no respect for her or her books, and I finally realize I like none of it. Not one fucking thing do I remember longingly. Apparently believing rape for anyone of either gender identity is wrong and not sexy (in both books rape was portrayed as sexy) is bad because it makes me not like one tiny little part of a book.
She says I should listen to her. Well various internet person of evil, why don't you fucking tell the millions of rape survivors, domestic violence survivors, stalking victims, and sexual harassment victims of any gender identity that even though a book is mocking them, they should like at least one fucking thing from that book. Go tell them, asshole. Go tell Holocaust survivors they should like one part of Mein Kampf. If you do that, I'll listen to you. Until then I will never respect you. I only have this to say to you:
I'll add this, too, because you deserve it:Hooray, three middle fingers instead of one! :D
Now excuse me while I go continue embracing my feminist-liberal bias. I'll keep my middle finger ready for assholes like you.
WORD. Getting a story published doesn't change anything in the actual story. It simply makes it published. Wow, what a shock. A shitty story in the store shelves is still a shitty story. People who actually care about justice don't give passes for any reason, and especially don't demand other people to give those passes either.
ReplyDelete- Sunatic (Livejournal is being a jerk)
Omg omg omg I have found someone who gets as angry at these things as I do! (Also, I knew there was a reason why I didn't want to read those books. Now I know!) *jumps up and down in excitement*
ReplyDeleteAnyway, THIS. You are amazing.
(This is alifeunexamined again, but it wouldn't accept my wordpress login this time. Silly blogger.)
